LA BERGERIE, Morzine's iconic 4* hotel, underwent a massive ground floor renovation during the autumn
It felt like the natural choice to entrust this total redesign to architect Hervé Marrullaz, since he's Caroline's brother. The aim of the project was to retain the essence of LA BERGERIE, and at the same time bring in more clarity, colour, fluidity and a contemporary-meets-vintage touch.
If fine old wood plays a big part in the redesign, the new space also has sofas in vibrant shades, Olivier Mourgue armchairs and KNOLL tulip armchairs by Eero Saarinen; in addition, there's a modern new fireplace with polished concrete columns and lighting by Tom Dixon.
Architect Hervé Marullaz, who grew up in the building, has also shown an innovative approach to the hotel's walls, which now double as an adjustable (ERIC: is it sliding?) bookcase.
